Explore the Borders Country & Alnwick Castle
We will head south from Edinburgh. Underway you'll hear all about the historic rivalry between Scotland & England while enjoying the beautiful Scenery of the Borders.
The first stop of the day will be at The Hirsel, a country house and estate where you can enjoy some homemade treats.
We'll continue our journey to England with an hours stop at The Holy Island of Lindisfarne which is a tidal island off the northeast coast of England. Lindisfarne is internationally famous both for its medieval religious heritage and also its picturesque 16th-century castle.
Then we'll continue to the highlight of our tour, Alnwick Castle (admission not included) is the second largest inhabited castle in the UK; home to the Duke of Northumberland’s family, the Percys, for over 700 years.
In recent years it has also taken starring roles in a number of film and television productions, featuring as Brancaster Castle in Downton Abbey’s 2014 Christmas special and Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter films.
You'll have approx. 2.5 hours at Alnwick to explore the castle, gardens, and have lunch on your own.

Shortly after your booking is complete your e-ticket will be sent directly to your email, just print it out and bring it on your tour.
Where does the tour begin?
The tour includes hotel transfer from most centrally located hotels in Edinburgh. Your specific pick-up location and time will be arranged 24-48 hours in advance of the tour.
Where does the tour end?
After your tour, you'll get dropped off at one of the many drop-off points in Edinburgh. You'll be back in Edinburgh around 6 PM.
How long does the tour last?
The tour is approx. 9.5 hours.
Is the tour available in other languages than English?
No, the tour is in English (Scottish) only. However, we do offer a short written tour description in French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and Chinese.
Are there children's tickets?
Yes, children's tickets are available for children between age 5-14. Children under age 5 are not permitted on this tour.
